Infotrust is a prominent player in the business information solutions sector in Portugal. The company, originally known as IIC – Comercial Institute of Information, was founded in 1932 and has since evolved to become the largest 100% Portuguese company providing business information solutions. Infotrust specialises in consulting solutions for credit and risk management, contributing significantly to the consolidation and achievement of businesses.
The company is headquartered in Lisbon, and offers a wide range of services, including business reports, financial and economic information, and risk assessments. Infotrust's extensive database covers more than 1.6 million business entities in Portugal, ensuring that clients have access to the most up-to-date and relevant business information.
Challenge
We were challenged by Infotrust to build a new portal for InfotrustGo, where both existing and new clients could access a database of more than 1.6 million business entities. Additionally, customers should be able to buy reports or subscribe to a membership through the new portal.
One of their biggest concerns was implementing a solution that could handle a database of over 1.6 million businesses and all associated data while providing a high-quality online experience for their customers. The web portal speed and performance were also critical considerations.
Another challenge was ensuring the new web portal was SEO-friendly. When a potential customer searches for information about a business on Google, Infotrust wanted to ensure the new portal would appear in the top search results. This required implementing the portal in a way that would allow search engines to correctly index the 1.6 million detailed pages of every business listed on their portal.

Solution
Using Umbraco for content management and Umbraco Commerce for the e-commerce side, along with custom development using Microsoft .NET and other technologies, we implemented a custom web portal. This portal not only provides a good user experience from a performance perspective but also meets Infotrust's criteria by allowing its customers to buy individual reports for specific businesses and subscribe to their services online.
Additionally, we ensured the project was SEO-friendly, enabling our client's content and the 1.6 million business database to be correctly indexed by Google and other search engines.
